Air Power Over Altus
This weekend I got to go to mine and Victoria’s first air show! Not sure why I’ve never been to an air show before because I’ve had plenty of opportunities, but I guess it’s kinda different when you have a baby to share the experience with.
We only spent about an hour and a half there, but we had so much fun. Since Victoria is still on two naps per day we had a very short time frame to be able to go. We got to watch some of the air show and got to see a ton of static planes. Victoria had a good time, even if the pictures don’t appear that way.
We did get to see my husbands new plane he will be flying. He will be flying the C-17 and this plane is huge! It was my first time seeing it up close and going inside.
I think its safe to say that Victoria does not want to be a pilot. We tried to put her in a glider seat and she immediately started crying. Poor baby.
My favorite part of the day was seeing an air demonstration called Tora! Tora! Tora! This was a recreation of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. While the planes flew past, an announcer set the mood and narrated the story throwing in bits of Roosevelt’s famous speech. It was def an emotional moment imagining what those people went through on that day.
Visiting the static planes was a neat experience. We saw all sorts of planes, those that are still in service and legacy planes that have since been removed from the inventory.
Unfortunately we missed the Thunderbirds because they performed in the middle of nap time, but we could see some of it from our driveway.
We had so much fun and I cant wait to take Victoria to another airshow when shes a little bigger so she can be more interactive with it!
